The big transfer story in the Catalan media in recent days has been related to Barcelona being keen on Ferran Torres.

Xavi Hernandez wants attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, and the club are looking for players they could bring in. Given the difficult finances at Barcelona, the concentration has been on options who aren’t playing a lot for their clubs at the moment, in the hope they could be signed on loan, with a potential purchase clause for the summer.

Regarding the Torres case, there’s been firm claims of Barcelona officials travelling to Manchester for talks, and now it’s stated they also took the opportunity to speak to Manchester United.

Despite recent reports about Edinson Cavani, it’s not the Uruguayan who was the subject of the chat. Instead, it’s his Old Trafford teammate Anthony Martial.

Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo says the Frenchman is another player of interest to the Blaugrana. His lack of playing time for Manchester United this season is seen as a reason a deal may be possible.

Regardless of any of that, things will surely have to wait for Ralf Rangnick to make an assessment of the players at his disposal and decide whether Martial can leave Manchester United in the January window.
