With Nottingham Forest still involved with multiple deals on deadline day, there seems to be an effort to sign Merih Demiral from Atalanta.

That’s reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, who claims the Reds have ‘pushed the accelerator’ ‘in the last few hours’ to sign the centre-back.

Nottingham Forest’s offer is reportedly for a paid loan with an option to buy that would be triggered automatically under certain conditions, and would cost €28m.

So far, the bid wasn’t enough to make the deal happen. It’s said Atalanta are ‘available to negotiate’, but the player is ‘not convinced’ of the move yet.

The outlet does not bring the reasons why Demiral would not be interested in the switch, although it’s easy to see that Atalanta currently fight for a Champions League spot in the Italian league, while Nottingham Forest’s big objective this season is to avoid relegation to the Championship.

The Reds are still linked to many players, all on loans with option to buy.

They’ve reportedly already signed centre-back Felipe, from Atletico Madrid, and apparently want to further reinforce their defence.
