Nottingham Forest recently showed interest in Palmeiras youngster Riquelme Filippi, according to a report from Brazil.
The forward arrived at the Brazilian club in 2021 and was promoted to their U20 side last year. He’s been a regular for Palmeiras U20s this year, managing eight goals and an assist from 25 games.
Globo Esporte state the 18-year-old ended up on the radar of Nottingham Forest and Sporting.
He’s yet to make his debut for the first team. It’s claimed the young attacker ‘received an offer’ from the Reds, who proposed €6m for 80% of the player’s rights.
Palmeiras had initially ‘given the go-ahead’ to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side to secure the deal, before changing their stance. They then decided to extend Filippi’s contract.
Globo haven’t specified whether Nottingham Forest made an offer for an arrival in the summer window, or if they wanted to agree a deal for him to arrive in the future.
Filippi turned 18 years of age at the weekend. This means he would only be able to move to the Premier League side in January 2025. It won’t matter now because Palmeiras have rejected the English club’s offer.
The report adds Filippi will sign a four-year deal, which will include a €100m clause.
