Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted they would be “stupid” if they weren’t tracking Jude Bellingham but insists, they have not spoken to the Borussia Dortmund star yet.

Bellingham is one of the rising stars of Europe, having established himself as a star performer in the Bundesliga since moving to Dortmund from Birmingham in July 2020.

His stock has continued to rise this season, particularly after he shone for England in their run to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in Qatar.

With a contract that runs until 2025 he is set to enter the final two years of his current deal in the summer and has subsequently been linked with a move awa.

The big clubs in Europe are all thought to be chasing his signature, including Liverpool, who have been heavily linked with a move for the last year or so.

They’re set to rebuild their midfield in the summer transfer window and Bellingham is believed to be at the top of their list of targets as they plan to splash the cash to keep up with their rivals.

Some reports have stated that talks have already taken place with the midfielder and his parents, but the Liverpool manager insists that is not the case.

“Jude is a great player who we know, of course,” he told SportBILD.

“We’d be stupid not to have him on our radar. But there’s nothing more to say at the moment.

“These things (talking directly to Bellingham’s parents) are not possible because he is under contract with Borussia Dortmund and that is not possible without their consent. So, it’s not true.”
