Over the weekend we covered the breaking the news that Javier Hernández was set to leave West Ham for Sevilla in the coming days.
That move has now been completed, with Sevilla announcing the deal earlier this morning.
Hernández found himself out of favour at the London Stadium this season following the arrival of Sébastien Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt for a club-record deal.
He has chosen the chance of first-team football with Sevilla rather than a place on the bench at West Ham, and a return to Spain, where he already spent a season on loan at Real Madrid back in 2015.
Some are viewing the transfer as a bit of a coup for the Spanish side, with Hernández still a relatively big name.
However, director of football Monchi has insisted this isn’t a signing for the media.
Instead, he says that Hernández has been brought to the club do what he’s always done.
“He does not come to be a media player,” he told Diario de Sevilla.
“He comes to contribute what I think he has always done in the teams he has been at, score goals.”
“31 years of age is still valid age to perform at, the eagerness that Chicharito brings knocks several years off him.”
