Sivasspor coach Rıza Çalımbay has insisted they are not interested in a move for Everton striker Salomon Rondon, despite reports to the contrary.
Claims in Turkey yesterday indicated that the Super Lig side were keen on signing the Everton striker, who joined the Toffees on a free transfer in the summer.
Sivasspor were looking at a possible deal at that point as well but failed to move, with Rondon instead linking up with Rafa Benitez at Goodison Park.
The reunion has not been a happy one, though, with Rondon goalless so far and yet to provide any evidence that the move was a smart one for the Toffees.
That was seemingly something Sivasspor were looking to take advantage of, convincing both Everton and Rondon to part ways early in January.
Indeed, reports indicated that they had already been in touch with Rondon’s agent to sound the player out about a move to Turkey.
Those reports were seemingly wide of the mark, though, at least according to Sivasspor’s manager Çalımbay. He recently appeared on Radyospor and dismissed the rumours outright.
“There are seven weeks until halftime in the Super League,” A Spor report him saying.
“At the moment, our only thought is the matches we will play in the 7-week period.
“We are not interested in Oğuzhan Özyakup and Salomon Rondon. The claims of Oğuzhan and Rondon do not reflect the truth.”
