Over the past three games, Martin Ødegaard has disappeared from the radars at Arsenal, with the club being very coy about his absence.
There have been reports in England that the player suffered a concussion during a training incident, but that isn’t what has caused him to miss the international break with Norway.
Stale Solbakken gave some updates about his captain, although he was very reticent to provide more details, other than the fact it appears to be something far more common than what was claimed on these shores, as he explained in a press conference, relayed by VG.
The Norway manager said that he knew the Arsenal player would not be available to him for ‘quite some time’, but everything needed to be coordinated with the Gunners, who have been working hard to get him back on the pitch.
He then said of the mysterious injury: “When the club is so reticent, I don’t know how right it is for me to talk about it. It’s a normal football injury that you probably recover from very well and that is not career-threatening.”
Solbakken then alluded it might have something to do with his leg, but, again, he remained very coy about the details.
Still, the manager also revealed the Arsenal playmaker is hoping to head to Norway during the international break to watch the game against the Faroe Islands and ‘be with the squad’.
