The injury that Brighton & Hove Albion fullback Pervis Estupinan currently has is now getting more coverage in the South American media.
The reason is that FEF president Francisco Egas had a word with La Red about the 25-year-old’s current situation.
The national team chief explained that Estupinan now has a new injury, and not a setback to the one which sidelined him at Brighton in the past few weeks.
“Unfortunately Pervis Estupinan got injured again, now it’s a strain, it’s not the same muscle injury. We’ll have him for next year,” said Egas.
Since November, Estupinan has missed seven Brighton games due to a muscle injury. That was a tough period for the Seagulls, who haven’t won a single Premier League clash since he was sidelined.
The player returned to the pitch in the Champions League clash against Ajax last week, and was replaced after 12 minutes on the pitch due to an injury. Prior to this weekend’s match against Sheffield United, manager Roberto De Zerbi didn’t give many details on his situation, just claiming he was unlikely to play.
It’s a case of waiting to see how serious this new injury is, and if there’s any chance he’ll be playing for Brighton at the end of the international break.
