Wolverhampton Wanderers are yet to make an offer for Goncalo Guedes this summer, despite reports of their interest in the Valencia star.

That’s according to Super Deporte, who say Jorge Mendes’ best efforts are yet to produce the goods for the Premier League side.

Guedes has been linked with Wolves for the last few weeks, with it believed they were readying a €25m offer for the Portuguese forward, who Valencia could sell to help balance the books.

There have been reports that a bid has been made, but it appears that is not the case, at least as far as Super Deporte are concerned.

They say that, barring a last-minute offer, Valencia chief Peter Lim has given the green light for Guedes to stay at the club this season.

They explain that Guedes had left for the European Championship with Portugal and did not intend to return. Indeed, Valencia were open to a sale and ‘making money’.

But the circumstances have changed, and the Spanish club are now willing to risk keeping Guedes for another year and hope he revalues himself.

As of this moment in time, there is no offer on the table, not even from Wolves. Jorge Mendes was working on their behalf and had tried using Rafa Mir as a ‘bargaining chip’ in one operation, but that fell through.

Now, the only ‘real option’ being contemplated at the Mestalla is that there is a new attempt linked to Nuno Espirito Santo’s attempt to take Adama Traore to Tottenham.

In other words, Valencia believe that Wolves may come calling for Guedes if Traore makes the move to London, but there is no certainty in that and, at this moment in time, there is no offer on the table from Bruno Lage’s side.

If they were to get Guedes, they would have to offer over €30m as Valencia still owe €20m in amortisation and would only get 25% of Guedes’ wages off the books in a sale, so anything below €30m is considered ‘a bad deal’.

Peter Lim has already rejected two offers of €20m from Sevilla and Villarreal this summer with that in mind, so there will be no change in stance for Wolves if they do make an offer before the end of the window.
