With 42 points up for grabs so far in the Championship for Burnley FC, getting 25 in 14 games might seem like a lot, and yet the Clarets currently sit top of the table.
The Turf Moor side are ahead of Sheffield United on goal difference, having conceded one fewer than the South Yorkshire club.
One point separates the top five in the Championship, which has always been a tough league to take part in, and Vincent Kompany addressed that on Monday when talking to Het Laatste Nieuws, relayed by Voetbalkrant.
He said: “This competition has trip wires everywhere. Each team passes its kryptonite onto another. There is no logic in it.”
Despite currently being top of the league, Burnley have drawn seven games to date, won six and lost the remaining one, meaning that there’s still a lot of work to do, which Kompany is aware of.
He added: “We can do even better. I have been lucky enough as a manager to be able to work with young teams. Young people always come out better from lesser periods. That is a process that we have to accelerate.”
Burnley recently beat Swansea 4-0 on Saturday thanks to goals from Vitinho, Jay Rodriguez and Anass Zaroury and will never face Birmingham City away from home on Wednesday October 19th.
The last time the two teams met was in 2016, when Sean Dyche was still in charge prior to his leading of the Clarets to the Premier League.
