According to TMW, Newcastle United are set for further contact today to sign Inter Milan forward Stevan Jovetic.
The Montenegro international has been linked with the Premier League side in the past week or so, as Rafael Benitez looks to bring in reinforcements before next week’s deadline.
TMW say Benitez ‘insists’ on signing Jovetic, and with the former Manchester City player potentially surplus to requirements at the San Siro, especially given his high wage, it’s worth a try signing him.
Benitez has made a ‘direct request’ to the Newcastle United board to bring Jovetic to St James Park, and there’s set to be a new effort today.
Jovetic isn’t keen on a return to England and that includes Newcastle United, having also snubbed Brighton & Hove Albion.
Benitez is eager to bolster his attacking options before next week’s deadline, and even though the Inter Milan player didn’t have the best of times in England, the club are hoping they can convince the 27 year old to be central to their team.
It’s claimed Inter Milan would be looking for an offer in the region of €14m.
