Yet to score in the Premier League since their promotion, you can understand Brighton & Hove Albion’s desire to bolster their attack, with Stevan Jovetic the apparent prime target.

Linked with a move away from Inter since the start of the summer, the Montenegrin has seen an offer from Marseille rejected by his club, and has himself turned down the chance to move to Newcastle United.

Whether it has something to do with England in general since his rather unsuccessful spell at Manchester City isn’t clear, but Jovetic doesn’t appear to have any desire to return to these shores, having also rejected a move to AMEX Stadium.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Brighton & Hove Albion saw their €16m bid accepted for the 27-year-old only to have him politely turn them down when given permission to talk to the player.

This appears to now be a battle between Inter and Jovetic.

They’d happily sell him, but unless the offer is attractive enough for him, he’s not interested.

Jovetic spent last season on loan with Sevilla where he scored seven goals and picked up five assists in 27 appearances for the La Liga side in all competitions.
