Thursday saw claims come from Catalan newspaper Sport that Manchester City have offered €20m for Espanyol’s Aaron Martin Caricol.

The left-back would be a squad option for Pep Guardiola and provide competition to new-boy Benjamin Mendy.

Manchester City have had something of a fullback revolution this summer, which was forced upon the club to an extent, given others seeing their contracts expire.

Mundo Deportivo, the slightly more sensible of the Catalan sport newspapers, also have a look at Aaron to Manchester City, and in their Thursday edition it’s stated no official offer has actually been made.

Despite that there are ‘conversations’ ongoing, and Espanyol are concerned Aaron could leave, the situation is stated as a ‘danger’ for the Barcelona club.

Mundo Deportivo, perhaps in a snipe at their Catalan cousins, say that despite rumours spreading on Wednesday, there’s been no offer, and it’s made to sound that not an awful lot has actually happened.

Yes, Manchester City are interested, but the signing isn’t ‘urgent’ for them right now. Aaron’s buyout clause is €30m, it goes up to €40m next summer.
