There’s something about Edinson Cavani, maybe it’s the hair, which suggests he’d be a perfect Newcastle United hero.
An exciting new era, with the veteran Uruguayan leading the line, and the Geordie crowds taking him to their collective heart immediately.
Well, L’Equipe suggest there’s a possibility it could happen. The PSG legend’s contract expires this summer and he’s yet to commit himself to any club. He had wanted to leave during the winter market, but PSG priced him out of a move to Atletico Madrid, something which reportedly caused annoyance and soured the player’s relationship with the French side.
Atletico remain interested, and there’s been links to Manchester United and Inter Milan too.
Sunday’s edition of L’Equipe says Newcastle ‘launch’ for the signing, making it sound like there’s a genuine effort going on behind the scenes. Cavani is said to be a ‘dream’ for the club’s prospective new owners, and he’d be signed as the headline act for next season.
And, here’s the good news, the 33 year old hasn’t ruled out the prospect and is keeping his options open.
