On Monday morning, we covered Spanish newspaper AS reporting Newcastle United are interested in signing Real Betis midfielder Nabil Fekir.
Their article said that despite the player’s importance for the La Liga side, no one is untransferable in their squad, and therefore convincing offers could take him away.
Now as local Seville outlet Estadio Deportivo features an update on Newcastle’s chase, they point out that Fekir’s departure this summer is actually quite unlikely.
Newcastle ‘knock the door’ at Betis for the transfer, yet things won’t be easy.
It’s said Betis already told Fekir they’re only selling him if there’s an offer ‘impossible to refuse’. Estadio Deportivo also point out that just a few weeks after the Newcastle rumours started showing up, the midfielder signed a deal which includes a €100m release clause.
So if the Magpies want his signing this summer, they better know a strong effort will be needed.
