Newcastle’s ‘strong interest’ in Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha is today covered by Citta Celeste.
Since the player’s contract with the Serie A side expires at the end of the season, there’s now a big chance for the Magpies to sign him for free.
The situation for the Newcastle target seems to be a little complex because even though Lazio would like to hand Strakosha a new contract, manager Maurizio Sarri still wants a new goalkeeper for the next season.
The 27-year-old, meanwhile, is said to be ‘divided’ between the chance of staying at his club or moving to the Premier League, where Newcastle want him.
Strakosha’s links with Newcastle started back in 2019, made a return in November last year, and now with the end of his contract approaching, the rumours are back.
The Magpies have Martin Dubravka as their main option for the position, with Karl Dalow and Freddie Woodman both getting appearances this season as well.
