Last week, after months of the media stating that Sven Botman would be heading to Milan, a report came out revealing that Newcastle United had returned to the fore.
The Magpies wanted the Lille defender in January, and tried their best to get him, but the Ligue 1 side didn’t want to sell then.
This summer is a whole different story, however, and the fact Milan have been undergoing a change of ownership, which was made official on Wednesday morning, has opened a door for other clubs to try and change everything, like Newcastle.
Corriere dello Sport look at the type of business the Serie A club could do, and they point out ‘the Sven Botman affair is still at stake with Lille, but it would take €30m to complete the deal’.
They then add ‘the competition is very fierce for the Dutch centre-back’, as Newcastle and other Premier League club are ‘trying to convince him’.
As things stand, the player ‘has given Milan his word and is still waiting for the Rossoneri’.
The question is, when will they make their move? And if they don’t or take their time, how long will he wait around for?
