While OGC Nice aren’t having the best run of their campaign, there are two of their players who are keeping their stocks high with their performances.
Those are Khéphren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo, with the latter being followed by a number of Premier League clubs, namely Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester United.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who look at what the former Barcelona player’s future may look like, and explain the 23-year-old, who’s already played for Toulouse, the aforementioned La Liga giants, Schalke 04 and Benfica before landing in Nice, ‘wants to take his time to choose the best project for next season’.
He is expected to be one of the ‘biggest sales’ in Ligue 1 this summer, and he will ‘have a choice’, with the Premier League described as a ‘tempting destination’ for him.
That’s where Newcastle are mentioned, as it’s no secret, with all the links to Perr Schuurs and others, that Eddie Howe wants a new centre-back at St James’ Park to help out Sven Botman and Fabian Schär.
Regarding Liverpool, they might also need help, and there’s no denying that working Jürgen Klopp has its appeal. It just all depends on whether the defender wants to play in the Champions League as early as next year or is happy to have one (or potentially two) transitional seasons on Merseyside as they look to rebuild their squad.
Price wise, the belief is that, ‘with good negotiation’, OGC Nice can get his price up, and it ‘would not be a surprise’ if he left for ‘at least €30m’, even if the Ligue 1 side are ‘hoping for at least €10m more’.
Even if it does reach €40m, that’s an affordable price for Newcastle, Manchester United and even Liverpool, who will undoubtedly go all out this summer to bolster their squads to improve on their respective seasons.
