Out of all the loans (three) that Anderlecht have received from Premier League clubs this season, only one of them could stay beyond the current campaign.
That man is Matz Sels, who has impressed so much that he could make the Jupiler Pro League club consider the possibility of a summer move, making the loan permanent.
Giving the club ‘complete satisfaction’, according to DH, and ‘finding his best level over the past few weeks’, the Newcastle loanee could be considered as a player worth keeping by the new president.
However, a lot will depend on whether Rafa Benitez, who has been looking all around Europe for a new goalkeeper, wants him to return to Newcastle in order to give him a chance next season.
If he does, then Anderlecht are simply out of luck,.
If he doesn’t, even then a deal will be quite difficult, as DH explain a transfer would require a ‘big financial effort’ from the Belgian side, which they might not consider worthwhile if they are to revamp the team entirely next summer.
The idea is certainly there, and it’s one potential Newcastle transfer we’ll have to keep an eye on.
