Newcastle United are among the clubs to have approached Paulo Dybala as he gears up to leave Juventus this summer.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who says that the Argentine is taking things slowly ahead of a big summer transfer window for him.
Juventus revealed the Argentine will be leaving on a free transfer at the end of the season, having decided to give up on their efforts to get the forward signed to a new deal.
Dybala is free to negotiate with clubs around Europe, and Newcastle are one of the ‘enquiries’ he’s had since that announcement from Juventus.
According to Pedulla, he would prefer to stay in Italy as he is happy there and is eyeing up a move to Inter Milan as his first choice.
They, though, are yet to make a move and would likely have to sell striker Lautaro Martinez first, before signing Dybala on a free transfer.
Dybala is happy to wait for as long as possible, having watched Lionel Messi secure a deal last summer and knowing that this deal, at 29-years-old, will be ‘the most delicate and important contract of his career’.
It seems he’s putting personal happiness ahead of money, which Newcastle can presumably offer in abandon after their takeover last year.
At this moment, they appear to be down the pecking order for the forward, but they’ve put themselves in the window to try and compete nonetheless.
