FutbolArena have reported the latest developments in Besiktas’ pursuit of Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens.

Lens impressed whilst on loan with Fenerbahce last season, scoring 5 goals, and providing 16 assists, and that led to widespread interest in Turkey.

Earlier this week, we covered reports from the Turkish press, which claimed Besiktas have reached and agreement with Lens, and the club just needed to convince Sunderland over the transfer.

Following this, FutbolArena reported Sunderland had accepted a €4m offer from Besiktas and the transfer was expected to be completed subject to a medical.

However, the Turkish website now report Besiktas will loan the Dutchman next season, and they’ll pay €1m Sunderland for the deal. When the loan spell ends, Besiktas have an option to make the deal permanent for €3.5m. The Sunderland player has also agreed to a salary of €2.2m a season.

Besiktas have already completed the signing of Valencia forward Alvaro Negredo, and they’ll be likely to add another central defender to their squad.
