This week’s edition of SportBild explains Carney Chukwuemeka has already become a fan favourite at Borussia Dortmund following his arrival on loan from Chelsea.

The German sports magazine, part of the wider Bild group, states BVB supporters love a bit of glitz and glamour in a player, and the Chelsea man is said to have it.

Borussia Dortmund have a clause to make the player’s move from the Blues permanent this summer. That clause is worth €35m and it doesn’t sound like the German club feel that is overpriced.

What is an issue is the timing.

SportBild say the deal is ‘much more complicated’ than had been thought by the German media. That’s because of the deadline.

The contract states the buying option has to be activated prior to the Club Wold Cup kicking off in mid June.

Whilst that doesn’t immediately seem to be a big problem, SportBild explain Borussia Dortmund wanted to use some of the money they’ll earn at the tournament to fund their transfers this summer.

It sounds a little far fetched, because BVB will have obviously known about the deadline clause given they signed the contract.
