Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the winter market.

Saturday’s editions of ABC Sevilla and Mundo Deportivo have looked at Wolves’ chances of securing the midfielder’s services.

The newspaper local to the La Liga side state Real Betis will not open the exit door for the 23-year-old in this window.

The Andalusian club have made this clear to the American, his agents and the clubs that want to sign him. ABC Sevilla have named only Wolves as an interested party.

Over at Mundo Deportivo, they relay claims made elsewhere about Vítor Pereira’s side and then share their own take.

Cardoso made 23 appearances in all competitions for Real Betis this season and is one of their most sought after players in the market.

Mundo state his club have no intention of letting him leave in January. In order to change their stance, Manuel Pellegrini’s side need an offer ‘much higher than €25m’, with is the amount Tottenham Hotspur have negotiated a purchase clause for.

Wolves, for their part, have made an approach for Cardoso, but the report explains they’ve shown no signs of a mega offer.
