This weekend El Confidencial have gone big on Gareth Bale, and as well as dragging Manchester United back into the transfer picture for the Welshman, Tottenham have also been edged into the circle.

It’s explained that ‘movements have already begun’ on a potential switch for both clubs, but neither want to pay Real Madrid’s asking price which is said to be a minimum of €90m. That’s of course especially true for Tottenham, and Daniel Levy wouldn’t consider such an amount to take Bale back to Spurs.

With Bale now being 28 years of age there’s little prospect of a secondary transfer to then claw some of the fee back and there’s almost zero chance of any profit down the road.

For Levy to be tempted enough, or tempted at all, to put a big financial outlay down then it’d have to be at a relatively bargain price.

Of course, Real Madrid’s closest transfer media dragging Tottenham into the picture gives room for future Harry Kane or Dele Alli claims, with Bale being used as potential part payment. Still, Spurs would want to come out with a hugely advantageous deal.

Real Madrid may be better looking towards Manchester United. Even ignoring the relative finances of the two clubs, it’s probably easier getting a big Bale fee out of Ed Woodward than Levy.
