‘Neymar more optimistic’ is splashed on the front page of Sport.
A week ago, the Paris Saint-Germain forward and his entourage were thought to be close to Real Madrid because of Barcelona’s inactivity. However, the 27-year-old now believes he can return to the Camp Nou.
The attacker and his environment have highly valued the summit in Paris on Tuesday, where Eric Abidal, Javier Bordas and André Cury met PSG sporting director Leonardo.
Within the Brazilian’s camp, they believe an agreement can be reached between two clubs.
Before Barca’s inactivity, Florentino Pérez was very close to reaching an agreement with player. Neymar already received an offer from Real Madrid, but Barca and his friends at the Spanish club prevented him from signing for their arch rivals.
Neymar is happy with the step taken by Barca and will force the two clubs to find an agreement in the next few days.
Perez, on the other hand, believes the only way for Madrid to stop Neymar from joining Barcelona is by asking PSG to break the negotiation with the Catalan club.
PSG don’t want to sell to Barca, but are aware they could end up hurting themselves if they retain Neymar.
Over at Mundo Deportivo, they aren’t as optimistic as Sport.
It was earlier explained that Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu will meet his PSG counterpart, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in Liverpool on Friday. Instead, he will now travel to Bilbao for the opening fixture that is scheduled on the same day.
Even after Tuesday’s meeting, PSG and Barca ‘remain distant’.
Barca only want to offer players for Neymar, but PSG are demanding Philippe Coutinho, Nelson Semedo and money. The former feel it’s ‘impossible to reach such a deal’ when Neymar continues to remain silent.
Bartomeu is happy with the squad and will only make an approach for Neymar, if the deal is viable economically.
