Leander Dendoncker to West Ham is likely to be a story that drags on until the very end of the January transfer window, according to DH.
The Belgian outlet give us the latest on a story that has been around since the very beginning of the month, and the Hammers are the ‘hottest’ on his trail, with the player ‘still dreaming of West Ham’.
In fact, the London club sent Stuart Pearce to watch Dendoncker play against Genk on Sunday, spotted in the stands next to Peter Smeets, one of the Belgium international’s advisors.
The price remains the same as it was earlier this month, which means €20m, and the 22-year-old isn’t exactly keen to wait until the summer to get his move.
DH explain the young defensive midfielder is ‘ready for a new challenge’, especially at a club like West Ham, where he reckons he’ll get a lot of game time, knowing that might not be the case at a bigger club.
With hopes of making Roberto Martinez’s squad for the 2018 World Cup, Dendoncker wants as much time on the pitch as possible to convince the Spaniard he’s ready.
The problem for Anderlecht in all this is finding a replacement, and the longer West Ham take to make their €20m offer, the shorter the time to find someone else.
Hurry up, lads.
