Once again, Catalan newspaper Sport are reporting Clement Lenglet to Barcelona is very close to all being agreed.

At the weekend and last week they reported the deal could be done and announced on Monday, but that date has obviously passed.

Sport haven’t been put off making the big Lenglet claims, and in their Thursday issue they really go for it. The deal is made to sound so close it’s touchable.

It’s claimed that Sevilla have refused to negotiate a friendly transfer. Barcelona had been hoping to pay a little more than the player’s release clause (reported as €30m by some, and €35m by others) so they could then spread the payments out over a number of years.

Sevilla have refused, report Sport.

Therefore, Barcelona plan to deposit the buyout clause today and make the transfer to Barcelona official, before the usual presentation.

Barca will ‘end the Lenglet soap opera in a matter of hours’ after Sevilla made it clear it’s the clause or ‘nada’. The French defender is expected to sign a five year contract with the blaugrana.

The aim of Barcelona is to announce the deal today, say Sport, and present Lenglet at the end of the week, which would surely be tomorrow.

Don’t be too surprised if this timing falls short by a day or two.
