Marco Silva could be set for his return to management, with Sao Paulo eyeing up the manager for his first job since Everton.
That’s what UOL Sport report today, who say the Brazilian giants have been in touch with the Portuguese boss about a potential move.
Sao Paulo are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking previous coach Diniz on Monday after a run of six games without a win left them seven points behind league leaders Internacional.
The club are now on the hunt for a replacement for next season and it appears Marco Silva is on their list of potential targets.
He’s been out of work since leaving Everton in November 2019, where he was eventually replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.
There’s been little mention of him since, with the former Hull and Watford boss seemingly biding his time before getting back into management.
That could be on offer in Brazil, with UOL explaining that Sao Paulo have him on their list of potential replacements for Diniz.
They report that president Julio Cesares, football director Carlos Belmonte Sobrinho and technical coordinator Muricy Ramalho are working alongside agent Bruno Paiva to map out targets for the club.
That has led Paiva to hold informal contacts with several potential candidates, and one of them is Silva, who he ‘made contact’ with about the role.
The coach has fierce competition for the role, though, with Vitor Pereira, who was linked with replacing him at Everton, and Andre Villas-Boas also in the running.
