Marcelo Bielsa has been mocked by Union Espanola owner Jorge Segovia after he was sacked by Leeds United.

Bielsa’s reign at Elland Road came to an end on Sunday following the 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, a result which continued a poor run of form for his side.

It left them hovering above the relegation zone, and fears they could soon fall into it led to Leeds’ management electing to make a change.

That was a tough decision to make, given their relationship with Bielsa, who had led them back to the Premier League after a 16-year absence.

That, coupled with exciting attacking football and efforts to rebuild a relationship with the fanbase, led the Argentine to have almost God-like status among the fanbase.

They were keen to show their love of him after his departure this week, with videos on social media showing groups of Leeds fans applauding and singing his name when they encountered him on the street.

It seems everyone is not a fan, though, with Segovia, an old adversary following an incident when Bielsa was in charge of Chile, keen to rub salt into the wounds.

ADN Radio explain that after Bielsa received ‘love and respect’ from Leeds and most of English football, Espanola reaching ‘in a different tone’.

The incident occurred on his Twitter account, where a fan of Union Espanola suggested they should make a move for Bielsa following his departure from Leeds.

Segovia was quick to reply to this ‘in mockery’, writing back, “they fired him again? It’s difficult to follow him because it happens to him all the time.”

This remark was as seen as something of a rekindling of the ‘bad relationship’ between the pair after Bielsa left the Chilean national team in 2011 when he refused to work with Segovia and Sergio Jadue, who had taken charge of the ANFP, the Chilean Football Association.

It’s something they’ve never fixed, and it seems while everyone else was praising Bielsa, Segovia was looking to stick the knife in after his departure from Leeds.
