Whenever a reasonably senior player in Serie A has some kind of difficulty, whether related to a contract renewal or a disagreement with his club, then he’s automatically linked with interest from the Premier League.
Manchester United are usually among the group of clubs mentioned, and that’s the case on Saturday with Alessio Romagnoli.
The 26-year-old defender is AC Milan’s captain and has a contract expiring in June 2022, so this summer a decision is likely needed over a sale or a renewal.
Manchester United, with a mind towards the upcoming summer window, would be ‘ready to sign’ Romagnoli, and are also presented as being interested in his Rossoneri teammate Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Both men are represented by Mino Raiola, and that will be helping the rumours along. Should Manchester United be genuinely interested in Donnarumma, as has been claimed in recent days, then it would be no surprise if Raiola tried to bring Romagnoli into the mix, if only to help pressure Milan over a renewal.
