After agreeing a deal in principle with Borussia Dortmund for Jadon Sancho, Manchester United’s priority is to now sign a new centre-back this summer.

Real Madrid’s Raphaël Varane has been repeatedly pushed forward as the main target, while over the weekend, AS reported the Red Devils identified Jules Koundé as back-up target for the position.

La Colina de Nervión, who cover Sevilla, now explain the Old Trafford club ‘do not forget’ the Sevilla defender.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side need to bolster their defence and therefore, have ‘reactivated their interest’ in the France international, who has repeatedly stated his desire to join a big club.

It’s claimed United, along with Manchester City, have been on the 22-year-old’s trail for the ‘longest time’.

However, Manchester United’s decision to invest big on Sancho ‘makes it impossible’ for them to meet Monchi’s demands of close to €80m to secure Koundé’s services.

At the weekend, a €70m asking price was reported.

For this reason, the Premier League side have shifted their focus to Varane, but ‘do not lose sight’ of the Sevilla star, and could revisit the Koundé case, if a move for the Real Madrid player doesn’t take shape.
