The future of Marcos Rojo became a hot topic this week, as Mexican side Cruz Azul reportedly opened talks for his signing.
With previous reports saying the Manchester United defender already had an agreement to join Boca Juniors, the updates made it sound like the race for him is actually pretty open.
The latest on the player’s future is now reported by Argentine journalist Nahuel Ferreira, who confirms that no decision has been taken yet.
The reporter says Rojo doesn’t have an agreement with any club. He ‘seeks to terminate his contract’ with Manchester United since the Red Devils said his deal won’t be renewed.
Regarding the clubs in the race for Rojo, Ferreira says Boca Juniors are the ‘most advanced’, and despite the Cruz Azul rumours, there’s ‘nothing concrete’ regarding the Mexican side for now.
In Argentina there was also some hope from Estudiantes de La Plata to get the defender back, since he watched one of their training sessions last month. However, there’s been no updates on their actions to land him from Manchester United.
