When the English press reported Alexis Sanchez was spending some time alone at Manchester United, the news had quite a big impact in the South American media.

Chilean papers had been quite upset with the player’s bad start at the club, and those stories only made the story a lot bigger than it already was.

That’s why another South American from the club has now come in Sanchez’s defence. Goalkeeper Sergio Romero has spoken to the Argentine ESPN this week, and made it clear that part of Alexis Sanchez’s alone time is because of his training efforts.

“Alexis is a player who likes football a lot and is very passionate, he goes out before training, he grabs a ball and starts playing little games, or he shoots to goal, or he goes for a pass with the whoever is one the pitch,” Romero told ESPN.

“After training he goes to the gym and has a lot of time there, he’s a player with a lot of quality, very focused, very involved in football, but because he loves football.”

ESPN still claims that last weekend, Sanchez started ‘shutting up’ all the criticism he’s been getting from the English press. The player scored a goal and made an assist in Manchester United’s 2-0 win against Swansea City, making the South American press a bit more optimistic about his future at Old Trafford.
