As Manchester United are reportedly in the hunt for a new goalkeeper, intriguing news shows up on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils are said to have Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp as a top target, but as Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg details the situation, he claims the Old Trafford side are working on other fronts as well.

On Twitter, the reporter stated Manchester United have made an ‘official offer’ for another goalkeeper. This target is not named, and there isn’t even a clue about who he is.

Back to Trapp, Plettenberg reports Erik ten Hag made a phone call making it ‘clear’ he wanted the player. That happened days before the match against Liverpool on Monday, and the Red Devils still haven’t placed a bid.

However, it’s added that Frankfurt bosses actually expect the goalkeeper to stay at the club. They’re preparing a long-term contract for him, even giving him a position at the club after his retirement, and are not looking for a replacement.

That may be the reason why Manchester United now look for alternatives. This week, we’ve seen the Red Devils linked to Porto’s Diogo Costa as well, but that was said to be a pursuit for a transfer in 2023.
