It’s no secret that most of the Premier League clubs do regular scouting work in Portugal, as their name is frequently identified in the official lists.
It’s also well known that since José Mourinho took charge of Manchester United, the Red Devils are represented every week, with almost guaranteed presence in all matches involving Benfica, Porto or Sporting.
That’s the reason why we don’t cover the club’s trips to Portugal so much, although there’s an interesting line in the Portuguese press today.
As newspaper Record reports the list of scouts who were present at the match between Portimonense and Porto this weekend, they point out that the Manchester United scouts were ‘keeping an eye on Porto’s pearls’.
Striker Moussa Marega, who scored a brace, was picked as the man of the match by the local press. Now with 20 goals this season, he’s certainly a player who will attract big interest in the summer window.
Fullback Diogo Dalot, midfielder Otávio and striker Tiquinho Soares had a big part in the team’s offensive creation, and got big ratings from the local papers as well.
Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Atletico Madrid, Alavés and Sporting were the other clubs who had scouts at this match.
