On April 29th, we covered claims made in Italy stating that Manchester United now ‘move more decisively’ for Lazio star Sergej Milinković-Savić.
Later that day, Il Messaggero explained the midfielder ‘knows very well’ he will leave the Serie A side after this season.
Calciomercato now explain there are only a handful of clubs who can afford the 27-year-old, and that list includes Manchester United.
The Serbia international has an ‘agreement’ with Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito to make a move elsewhere after this term. This decision has ‘been taken for some time’ as the player’s exit is ‘considered necessary’ in the summer.
Apart from Manchester United, Juventus are also interested in the former Genk man. Massimiliano Allegri is keen to train him, and the Old Lady’s chief, Federico Cherubini, ‘often talks’ to Milinković-Savić’s agent, Mateja Kežman.
The Turin club won’t have a problem to find an agreement over personal terms with the Serbia international. However, they must first get rid of some of their midfielders, which, ‘is not easy at present’.
Juve will then have to face competition from Manchester United. It’s said the Red Devils’ ‘interest is concrete’ and ‘will soon enter into operational phase of the negotiation’ to sign Milinković-Savić.
The Premier League side ‘want to prepare first offer’ and their proposal won’t be far from the demands set by Lazio. Calciomercato state Lotito will not be able to ask €120m for his star, but the starting price ‘will not be less than’ €80m.
Along with Manchester United and Juve, Paris Saint-Germain remain in the background for the Serbian.
