Sergej Milinković-Savić is expected to leave Lazio after this season and Manchester United have been repeatedly named as one his suitors for the upcoming window.
The midfielder was linked to the Red Devils and other clubs in the past but no club has been able to convince the Serie A side’s chief, Claudio Lotito, over a transfer.
According to Radiosei, relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Manchester United are the team which ‘moves more decisively’ for the Lazio star, to replace Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman’s contract expires in June and he’s expected to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Pogba’s potential arrival in Paris would rule them out of the race for the Serie A star as they are also credited with interest in him.
Quotidiano.net explain the failed attempts made by other clubs to sign the Serbia international in the past windows. They go on to add that the ‘history could change’ in the summer since Lotito’s demands have been ‘lowered’ and the midfielder wants to ‘start a new adventure’ next season.
When talking about the 27-year-old’s suitors, Manchester United are named, along with PSG and Real Madrid.
It’s claimed the former Genk man’s price tag has ‘fallen to around €70m’. This is a ‘high, but more realistic figure’ for big clubs.
His salary has already scared Juventus, but the track that leads to Manchester United ‘remains alive’, even though it will be ‘necessary to understand’ incoming manager Erik ten Hag’s intentions regarding the Lazio player.
Maurizio Sarri has identified Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a possible successor for the Serbian as Milinković-Savić is the ‘name closest to goodbye’ in the summer. Sarri looking at his former player to replace Milinković-Savić is also reported by Radiosei.
