Despite having gone quiet for a couple of weeks, it seems that Adnan Januzaj’s move to Real Sociedad is still very much on, as confirmed by Mundo Deportivo on Tuesday.
Not featuring in José Mourinho’s preseason tour squad, the Belgian forward and his entourage have made it very clear that his time at Old Trafford has come to an end, and a move to La Liga, a far more technical league, is the move they appear to favour.
On the 22nd of June, the player’s agents were said to be holding a meeting with Real Sociedad about the move, and now Mundo Deportivo claim they have returned to finalise the operation on Tuesday.
In standard Spanish press practice, the deal could be made official ‘in the coming hours’, but, as always, that timeline is very vague, and could mean later this week.
Reports claimed Manchester United would be getting around €11m for the 22-year-old despite him only having one year left on his contract.
Whether there is a ‘priority clause’ of some sort in there as well remains to be seen, but claims from Belgium seemed to suggest that was something Januzaj’s entourage were against.
