Manchester United ‘continue and intensify’ their scouting of Benfica goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.
That’s according to Sportime, who say Manchester United are ‘firmly on his trail’ after his performances this season, particularly in the Champions League.
According to them the goalkeeper is ‘proving game after game’ that he deserves to be playing for a bigger club than Benfica in the near future.
Reports have made it clear that Manchester United are one of the interested parties and are even now ‘intensifying’ their scouting of him.
They’re now set to step up those efforts and are firmly ‘on the trail’ of the 28-year-old, who again impressed against PSG this week.
However, Sportime miss out one crucial factor and that is the fact Manchester United have had a scout at pretty much every Benfica home game for years.
Portugal is basically a home from home for them when it comes to scouting, and barely a Benfica, Porto or Sporting game goes by without someone from Old Trafford watching it in the stands.
Thus, this seems like a little bit of a leap from the Greek outlet at this point, if not pure, unadulterated PR for their compatriot.
It’s worth taking these reports with a pinch of salt for the time being then, even if Manchester United do need a replacement for David de Gea at some point.
