Should Manchester United sell Romelu Lukaku this summer, a prospect which is now looking likely again, then there’s probably some disagreement among fans whether signing a replacement is the next priority.
Marcus Rashford is likely to be first choice striker, and Anthony Martial will probably be looking at a more central role long-term, then there’s Mason Greenwood, who has impressed during preseason.
On the other side of the argument, Greenwood is only 17 years of age, Martial may be deployed elsewhere, and relying so heavily on Rashford could come back to bite.
Fans preferring the second argument would be those most keen to hear of what seems like a Manchester United French plan.
Following claims from the French media that Moussa Dembele remains on the agenda, and that the player’s entourage have been contacted, Marca push the Wissam Ben Yedder option again on Tuesday.
Just like with the Lyon player, it’s claimed Manchester United have contacted Ben Yedder’s entourage. They haven’t yet contacted Sevilla, perhaps waiting to see what happens with Lukaku.
Having recently turned down a move to China because he wants to give himself a chance of being in Didier Deschamps’ Euro 2020 squad, Ben Yedder remains keen on a transfer.
Sevilla aren’t set against it either, but would want his €40m buyout clause.
PSG are also said to be interested.
