Manchester United’s second season under Erik ten Hag hasn’t gone how the club will have expected, and there’s building drama around Old Trafford.
The manager has been backed heavily in the transfer market and allowed to bring in players he has personal connections with, and has worked with before.
One of those players is Andre Onana, who arrived from Inter Milan having previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax. The goalkeeper came in to replace David De Gea, and whilst his season hasn’t been an absolute disaster, he will certainly need improvement going forwards.
There’s been suggestions Manchester United could even look to move on quickly. At the weekend, there was a report in Portugal that the Red Devils had a scout watch FC Porto, and the suggestion that was related to their goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
Marca now come with their own claims. According to the Spanish newspaper, Manchester United are interested in Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro.
The 29-year-old has been gradually building his reputation at La Real and it’s explained the Premier League club could look to him if they choose to replace Onana this summer.
Manchester United have Remiro ‘on their future agenda’, whatever that means, but wouldn’t be looking to pay his €70m clause.
Even Marca seem to believe that amount is too high and therefore a negotiation would be needed.
