Tuttosport have for years referred to Paul Pogba as the ‘Octopus’. It’s a compliment and based on him snatching the ball from everywhere so often it’s compared with having eight legs.
The Turin newspaper love the player and have done since before he moved to Juventus the first time. It was they who helped launch the story that Juve would be snatching him away from Manchester United before he’d really had a chance to do much at the English club.
They’ve also been all over the claims of a possible return, despite that looking less likely with every new signing the Serie A champions make. Adrien Rabiot has arrived in Turin to complete his move, and added to other summer business, including Aaron Ramsey, the club look somewhat squad heavy right now.
The standout part is it being claimed Manchester United are now ‘over’ Pogba and are ‘active’ on multiple signings to replace him. It’s stated they’re ‘betting’ on Bruno Fernandes and Ivan Rakitic, although this could just be Tuttosport getting excited after claims elsewhere.
If Manchester United really are ‘over’ the Frenchman then a quick deal is better than a saga, even if it does bring in a little less.
