For the past month or so, reports coming out of the Spanish press have repeatedly stated that Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rúben Neves is a target for Barcelona.
On November 4th, Sport explained the midfielder is a ‘serious option’ for the La Liga side in the winter market.
Last week, journalist Veronica Brunati stated the Catalan club have ‘practically closed’ a deal to bring the Wolves player to the Camp Nou.
Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi is a great favourite of Xavi Hernández and this is again highlighted in the latest report from Fichajes.net. He recently signed a new contract and reportedly has a €60m release clause.
However, that hasn’t stopped the Catalan club from following the Portugal international, who is valued at €40m. It’s further claimed the offer from the Bluagrana to Wolves would be around this figure.
In the event the Spanish giants end up signing Neves, Xavi will demand the club secure Sergio Busquets’ future because he doesn’t trust the Barca board to find a guaranteed replacement for the 34-year-old.
Busquets’ deal expires next June and therefore the manager is trying to convince both the player and Barca to reach an agreement over a new contract.
Fichajes.net insist Neves has not convinced Xavi and the Wolves player remains plan B for Barca in the transfer market.
