Angelino left Manchester City in June 2018 to sign for PSV Eindhoven. He impressed at the Dutch club and was receiving attention from La Liga sides, only for City to use their buyback clause and frustrate PSV and the others who were keen.

The Spaniard only lasted until the following winter market, when he was loaned out to RB Leipzig. There’s an option to buy for the Bundesliga club, which is thought to be around €22m, but Julian Nagelsmann’s side have been trying to get Angelino for a cheaper price.

Leipzig also have Patrik Schick on loan from AS Roma, and are trying to get him for less than the previously agreed clause.

Manchester City may well be being reasonable in negotiations, with Nagelsmann today suggesting everything is going fine in the talks to sign the player on a longer term basis.

Speaking at a press conference, and quoted by Kicker, the Leipzig manager said on Angelino’s situation: “I am very happy that we will hopefully be able to do this (the transfer) in a timely manner.”

Talks with Roma for Schick aren’t going quite as well, with other clubs also interested in the forward.
