On Thursday, we covered an article where it was made clear that Manchester United are still very much trying to protect Rasmus Højlund.

Following an injury found during his medical, they took their time to give him minutes, only bringing him on for the first time for the final 40 minutes of the 3-1 loss against Arsenal.

It has since been stated that Manchester United are in touch with the Denmark national team regarding how much he can be played, and it appears the answer to that, according to manager Kasper Hjulmand, is just about an hour, as relayed by Bold.dk.

Speaking after the 4-0 win over San Marino, he was asked about the young striker’s and Andreas Christensen’s fitness, and whether or not they will be able to start Sunday’s game against Finland.

Everyone wants to see the Manchester United player star for his country, but Hjulmand has made it clear he will not be taking any risks.

He said: “They are both in the game for it. Andreas is definitely ready for 90 minutes, while Højlund is probably not. Therefore, the question is whether we should bring him on from the start or later. He hasn’t had a full preseason, and he only trained for a week before he played against Arsenal.

“So it’s not expected that he can play 90 minutes at full steam, and therefore there are considerations about that, but they are both in play for a starting place. If you are fit to start, then you have to be able to have an hour in you, because otherwise I won’t do it. Now, we go home and look at everything.”

We will now have to wait until Sunday to see just how much progress Højlund has made and whether Manchester United have given the all clear for their player to be strongly involved in the game against Finland.
