When Leeds United decided to throw some money at Juventus for the transfer of Weston McKennie, there were a few eyebrows raised.

Mostly because few clubs were willing to take a chance on the USA international, who had been rather picky with his next destination, but also because it came with a hefty option to buy.

Leeds paid an initial €1.25m for the loan, and agreed to pay €34.5m to the Serie A side if they avoided relegation and the player made a number of appearances.

He is on course to do the latter, even despite the sacking of Jesse Marsch, but the same cannot be said about them avoiding the drop.

While Javi Gracia did pick up points in his first game in charge of Leeds, they remain 17th in the league, just the one point above the relegation zone.

Their next game comes against a Chelsea with a point to prove, followed by a home game against in-form Brighton and two away fixtures versus Wolves and Arsenal.

Still, over at Juventus, it’s explained by TuttoMercatoWeb that Max Allegri ‘does not miss’ McKennie, as he has been quickly replaced by Fabio Miretti and Nicolò Fagioli, who have impressed in the first team.

The Leeds man, down his end, has completed two full 90 minute games under Gracia, who is clearly keen on making him a central part of his plans between now and the end of the season.
