Ishak Belfodil wanted a transfer to the Premier League, and Everton were a great option for the player, so when it all looked like a deal was going to happen, and even the player’s Standard Liege teammates were hinting a deal was done, it must be hard now it’s fallen apart.
Several reasons have been given for the failure of the transfer to Everton. Disagreement at the Premier League club, agents getting involved who shouldn’t have, but whatever the reason, the player’s disapointment still needs to be dealt with.
The last thing Standard want is a sulking Belfodil for the rest of the season, and whilst the player has been completely professional and dedicated during the mini-saga, it’s inevitable he’s not going to be thrilled.
Belgium’s DH say Standard manager Aleksandar Jankovic has a job on now to ‘manage the disappointment’ Belfodil must be feeling. As well as dealing with the aftermath Belfodil’s failed transfer to Everton, Jankovic will also have to cheer up Ibrahima Cissé, who has seen two Fulham offers refused.
