This week, there’s been a rumour on Twitter claiming that Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro could sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer.
It’s been said that the player was offered on a loan deal with an option to buy, and the story soon spread through fans of the South American club.
Now as a couple of journalists went after more information, they both got the same answer.
Ricardo Alencar, from Galotube, had the rumour denied by two sources. A person from Atletico Mineiro’s technical staff ‘vehemently denied’ it, and someone from the club board ‘got a little irritated with the question’.
Journalist Jorge Nicola is another one with an update. He contacted Atletico Mineiro manager Cuca to know more about this case, and the answer was negative as well.
He says the coach ‘got angry with the rumours’ and ‘claimed it doesn’t make any sense’.
Even though both videos make it clear that Mac Allister is a player with huge potential, they agree that Atletico Mineiro wouldn’t have the budget to sign someone who’s regularly playing in the Premier League at the age of 22.
Mac Allister made 27 appearances for Brighton this season, with three goals and two assists. His contract with the Seagulls expires in 2023.
