Manager already ‘made clear’ last summer why he’s unlikely to take Tottenham job – Has certain ambitions

Vincent Kompany is unlikely to leave Burnley for Tottenham ‘after just one season’ and made that clear when he moved to Turf Moor last summer.

That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who say the Belgian coach may stick to his word if Tottenham do come calling for him.

Kompany has been heavily linked with Spurs over the last few weeks following their decision to part with Antonio Conte ahead of schedule.

It is believed he is on the list of candidates being looked at by Daniel Levy to replace the Italian after his superb work with Burnley this season.

He took over the Clarets last summer and following a major rebuild, including their style of play, has led them back to the Premier League at the first time of asking with a title winning campaign.

That has earned him plenty of admirers and some believe he would be the ideal man for Tottenham, who need a younger coach who can develop players and grow alongside him.

That would mean leaving Burnley ahead of schedule, though, and Het Nieuwsblad say that the former defender ‘does not seem the type of person’ to step into a new project and then leave after a year.

The former Red Devil ‘made that clear’ when he arrived at Burnley last year, stating that it was his ‘aim’ to make them a stable Premier League club again.

The fact he has now gotten them back into the top flight means he has only done half of the job he intended and thus may turn down any approach from Tottenham should it arrive.
