After Manchester United agreed a deal with Sporting for Bruno Fernandes on Wednesday, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he wants to bring in a new striker “who wants to break their nose” to score goals.
The Red Devils completed Fernandes’ signing on Thursday and reports coming out of England suggested they have set their sights on AFC Bournemouth’s Joshua King.
It was also reported the Old Trafford club submitted a bid for the 28-year-old, who came up through United’s academy and played under Solskjaer for the youth team.
According to Sky Sports’ James Cooper, Eddie Howe’s side turned down United’s bid for their star and Norway’s TV2 has also relayed the same information, from their own sources, stating an offer worth £27m was rejected by Bournemouth.
TV2 provide additional information and state that for the Cherries to consider the Norwegian player’s sale, ‘a possible bid must be of such a size that Bournemouth feel they cannot’ refuse it.
King has managed three goals and two assists in 16 league appearances and one of the goals came in his side’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United earlier this season.
Solskjaer has been asking for a striker since before the summer window closed.
